Travelling to ILI

Where is Erlangen?

The city of Erlangen is part of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region in the administrative region of Middle Franconia in Bavaria. There are convenient connections to Erlangen from the airports Nuremberg (Nürnberg), Munich (München) and Frankfurt. The approximate distances are:

Nuremberg-Erlangen: approx. 20 km
Munich-Erlangen: approx. 190 km
Frankfurt-Erlangen: approx. 200 km

By car

The Innovation in Learning Institute is easy to reach from the highway. From the northern direction (Bamberg) or from south (Nuremberg, Munich, Regensburg) it is only a short distance away from the exit “Erlangen-Zentrum”.

Take the exit “Erlangen-Zentrum” off the A73 on to Werner-von-Siemens-Straße. Before you reach the first traffic light you can make a u-turn to the opposite lane and go back around 100m. Then you turn right into Güterhallenstraße. After about 50m you turn right into Nägelsbachstraße 25.

By train

There are regular IC connections from direction 'Berlin/Leipzig' and 'München' to 'Erlangen' or from all other directions. Additional connections to 'Nürnberg Hbf' (central train station) require changing there to 'Erlangen'. From Nürnberg, it takes approximately 20 minutes to Erlangen.

From Erlangen station to ILI

In front of the central station you turn right into Goethestraße and walk straight ahead toward a big shopping center called Erlangen Arcaden. The you cross Güterhallenstraße into Güterbahnhofstraße and follow the course of the road into Nägelsbachstraße until you see a large brick building on the right-hand side. The left one of three entrances is number 25b, where you find ILI on the 4th floor. From the station it is approximately a 10 minutes walk.

From Nuremberg airport to Erlangen

There are three possible ways to get from Nuremberg airport to Erlangen:

By taxi (approx.. 20 min. and 25 Euros, Taxis are waiting in front of the airport exit)
The metro line U2 to Nuremberg Hauptbahnhof (central station), and from there by train to Erlangen
Take bus no. 32 until 'Nürnberg-Thon', change to bus no. 30 or 30 E in direction 'Erlangen-Hugenottenplatz' (terminus), continue as from the train station in 'Erlangen'.

From Frankfurt or Munich airport to Erlangen

If you are flying into Frankfurt or Munich you can get a special offer of Deutsche Bahn for your railway ticket called "Rail & Fly". It is available for flights with Star Alliance and Air Berlin. From Munich airport there is also an airport shuttle available that brings you right to your hotel in Erlangen.
