About us

The Innovation in Learning Institute is a Research and Development Institute at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Together with three other Institutes, the Innovation in Learning Institute forms the Department of Psychology and Sports Sciences at the Faculty of Humanities.

ILI’s Research and Development activities focus mainly on technology-enhanced learning and qualification systems in the context of lifelong learning.

ILI has the additional task to supply the University with advanced learning technology and pedagogical expertise. ILI is in charge of the University's complete e-Learning strategy and implementation.

ILI has been largely involved in European research and development projects in the field of innovative learning technologies and constantly conducts more than 20 projects focusing on technology-supported learning at international, European, national, regional, and local level.

Approximately 20 persons work at the Innovation in Learning Institute, in an interdisciplinary team of members from the humanities (predominantly psychologists), from technology, administration and media design.

The Innovation in Learning Institute is certified by the ArtSet Qualitätstestierung GmbH (LQW quality certificate).
